Joyce M. (Goforth) Nelson
June 23, 1938 ~ March 14, 2014

Joyce M. (Goforth) Nelson, 75 of Durant, OK went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 23, 1938 to Clyde and Juanita (Bits) Nelson in Archer City, TX.

She and Jimmy Dale Nelson married on July 10, 1955, and they have been happily married for 58 years. Joyce has lived in Durant for most of her life and worked as a hair dresser. She is a member of Westside Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, homemaking, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, one brother, and one sister in law.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Jimmy of the home, son Jimmy Ray Nelson of Austin, TX, brother Gary Gene Goforth and wife Vernell of Electra, TX, brother in laws; Bobby Nelson of Durant, Roy Nelson and wife Loretta of Durant, G.W. Nelson and wife Sandy of Durant, and Harold Nelson and wife Linda of Calera, sister in law Glenda Brown and husband Dee of San Antonio, TX and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Monday, March 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Mike South will be officiating. Family Hour will be Sunday, March 16 from 2-4:00pm. Interment will follow on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 1:00pm at Electra Cemetery in Electra, TX.
