Christopher Hoyle "Chris" Nelson

Christopher Hoyle "Chris" Nelson
June 11, 1972 ~ January 6, 2021

Christopher (Chris) Hoyle Nelson, age 48, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed from this earth on January 6, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19. Chris fought this extremely long and difficult battle with the heart of a warrior, and gave everything he had, including his last breath. He was passionate about protecting himself and the lives of others. He would want everyone who hears his story to carry out that same responsibility and respect, in an effort to prevent others from experiencing what he and his family endured at the hands of this wildly unpredictable virus.

He was born on June 11, 1972, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Alfred and Jo Nelson. He attended grade school at Dacoma, Oklahoma, and junior high at Carmen, Oklahoma. He completed his high school years in Fairview, Oklahoma, where his dad taught, so he could carry on his passion for playing football. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1991. He later attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma for 2 years and was a walk on player for the Ranger football team for one year.

Chris was a hard-working young man and carried jobs as a strong and dependable hand for local farmers during the summers of his teen years. He was only a couple years into his college endeavor, when he was presented with an employment opportunity in Arkansas. He jumped on the offer and used his dedication, intelligence, intriguing communication skills and unique compassion for other people, to quickly work himself into managerial positions for a couple nationally known cellular network companies. The stores managed by Chris were always the most lucrative in his district; full of happy employees and thriving with amazing customer service. He worked in this field for many years and as is often the case with someone who excels in a managerial position, he was presented with opportunities and career advancements that took him to several different states, including Arkansas, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and the last being Massachusetts, where he had resided for nearly 10 years at the time of his passing.

Chris accepted his most important job promotion in the spring of 2001, when he became a father to his daughter, Gabrielle Victoria Nelson. She was a beautiful, blonde headed bundle of joy and she instantly captured his heart. Her name was quickly shortened to Gabi, because like her father, she was way too spunky and busy to take the time to speak or write out a long moniker. His world revolved around Gabi and they shared and made countless father/daughter memories throughout the years. They shared a love for sports and one of their favorite things to do was to cheer on the Green Bay Packers. He did not miss a game and after every touchdown he would scoop her up and twirl her around as they giggled and cheered in celebration. He was one of the biggest Cheeseheads of all time and had an impressive collection of Packers memorabilia.

A couple years after moving to Massachusetts, Chris met a kindred spirit who brought an alluring light to his life. Her name was Tiffani and they quickly fell in love. Theirs was the kind of romance you only read about in storybooks. They had been together for many years when they decided to blend their families and in July of 2016, they were married. Chris gained two step children, Drew and Miles. They were all blessed to be in each other's lives.

Chris was big in stature and his unwillingness to back down from a challenge or opportunity, made him seem intimidating, but he was truly a gentle giant. He was a defender of the underdog and had a unique way of connecting with people and anyone who truly had the honor of knowing him, soon discovered he was as loyal, funny and kind as they come. He exuded so much light; his energy and zest for life was contagious and inspiring. He was a loving and committed man who left a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Tiffani Nelson of Lowell, Massachusetts, daughter, Gabi Nelson of Springdale, Arkansas; step daughter, Drew Maxwell of Clinton, Massachusetts, and step son, Miles Maxwell of Key Largo, Florida; mother, Jo Nelson of Aline, sister, Christina Eshleman and husband Troy and their daughters Savanna and Kacie of Cherokee, grandmother, Ivon Milacek of Waukomis, and many other special relatives and friends.
