Tommy Dale Neaves

Tommy Dale Neaves
November 3, 1944 ~ March 27, 2013 (age 68)

Memorial services for Mr. Dale Neaves, 68, of Norman will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, March 29, 2013 at the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church, 419 South University Boulevard in Norman with Reverend Linda Harker and Reverend Cal Brannon officiating.

Dale was born November 3, 1944 in Damascus, Virginia the son of Everett and Esther (Osborne) Buchanan.  He passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 27, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Dale enlisted into the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam era.  He was Honorably Discharged and began a career with NASA, GSFC working as a Building manager, operating in various capacities such as plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and new construction.  He retired in 2004.

He was united in marriage to Judy Channell on May 1, 2004 in Centreville, Virginia.  Dale and Judy made their home in Norman, where Dale was very involved at McFarlin, volunteering his time for the Food Pantry and the Christmas Store.  He was also a very faithful member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

Dale was a very joyful person, often giving of himself to make those around him smile.  He was known to perform random acts of kindness, regardless of what it was, to make people feel special.  The many blessings he was to others will never be completely known, because Dale was also a humble man that listened and followed his heart.  We will miss his gentle and kind spirit, but rejoice knowing that Dale is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

He is survived by his wife, Judy Neaves of Norman, Oklahoma; two sons, Seth Neaves and his wife, Tabitha, of Winchester, Virginia, and Brett Neaves and his wife, Erin, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two daughters, Ellen Ruoff and her husband, Kevin, of Lusby, Maryland; and Amanda Kline of Waldorf, Maryland; one son-in-law, Ronald Kline, of Port Tobacco, Maryland; one step-daughter, Bonnie Conner and her husband, Bill of Huntingtown, Maryland; three sisters, Betty Ray of Montgomery, Alabama, Drema Buchanan of Palatka, Florida, and Debby Loggans of Abingdon, Virginia; three brothers, David Buchanan of Sarasota, Florida, Don Neaves of Lake Wales, Florida, and Tim Buchanan of Tampa, Florida; ten grandchildren, Morgan, Jillian, Aidan, Rachel, Adam, Alexandra, Austin, Meghan, Sean, and Blaine;  two sisters-in-law, Carol Buchanan of St. Augustine, Florida and Letha Clark of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; and one brother-in-law, Gene Channell of Norman, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rachel Neaves, and one brother, Ronald Buchanan.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Dale Neaves to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements for Dale and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
