Anna Lea Nease
June 17, 1944 ~ July 17, 2020

 Anna Lea Nease, age 76, of Shawnee, OK passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 in Shawnee.

She was born June 17, 1944 in Shawnee, OK to Juanita (Arms) Riddle. Anna was raised by her grandmother, Leitha Arms and her aunt, Betty Young in Tecumseh, OK. She attended Tecumseh Public Schools and earned a teaching degree at St. Gregory’s in Shawnee.

Anna married the love of her life, Stanley Nease on May 29, 1961 in Shawnee, OK and has been married for 59 years.

She taught at Will Rogers, Horace Mann, Sequoyah, Franklin, and Jefferson Schools in Shawnee for over 30 years as a Native American Language and Special Needs teacher, retiring in 2011. She loved children and loved her career as a teacher, providing extra care for students beyond the classroom. She was passionate about making sure children were good readers and excelled in school to the best of their ability. Anna was instrumental in starting the Support Personnel Benefits Program with Shawnee Public Schools.

She was a member of New Beginnings Church in Shawnee.

Anna loved spending time with her daughter, 2 grandchildren, and her dogs and cats. Anna enjoyed reading, watching movies, fishing, gardening, flower gardening, playing dominoes, working crossword puzzles, and playing Wahoo. She enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and classmates at class reunions. Anna also loved reminiscing with her Aunt Bea about “The Good Old Days”.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Leitha Arms; and her mother.

Anna is survived by her husband Stanley, of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Curtis Stanford of McLoud, OK; her granddaughter and spouse, Lyndsey and Craig Little of McLoud; her grandson and fiancé, Cody Stanford and Ashley of McLoud; 3 great grandchildren, Gracie, Chloe, and Bryson; Brother and sister in law, Ronald and Karen Nease of Shawnee; her Special Aunt, Betty Young of Tecumseh; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Taylor of New Beginnings Church, Shawnee, OK officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
