Joseph C. Nabonne, Jr., age 74 of Purcell died Monday April 27, 2015 in Purcell. He was born March 2, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana one of three children born to Joseph Clement Nabonne, Sr. and Elythia Madeline Pedesclaux Nabonne.

At age five his family moved to Oakland, California where he spent his school age years and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1958. While in school Joseph was active in the Civil Air Patrol and after graduation he spent four years serving his country in the United State Air Force. After being honorably discharged he returned to California and began working for the United States Postal Service. During that time he also served as a reserve police officer for the City of Oakland and continued his work with the Civil Air Patrol. While in California he met the love of his life, Dutzie. She was a young neighbor lady who was visiting Joseph's mother, when they met. Dutzie later moved to Dallas, Texas and Joseph soon followed. He was able to transfer with the Postal Service to Dallas and earned an Associates Degree from Eastfield College. Joseph and Dutzie married on December 24, 1968 in Dallas and made their home there until 1973. They then moved to Canton, Texas and Joseph commuted the 72 miles one way daily to his postal job, mainly on a motorcycle. He attended training courses in Norman, Oklahoma several times a year and become skilled with the new automated machinery being used by the postal service. In 1993 he was offered a job at the National Center for Education & Development in Norman as an Electrical Technician Instructor and soon moved his family to Purcell. Joseph retired from the US Postal Service on December 31, 2002 after 36 years. He has been a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell, since 1982 and was a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. For enjoyment Joseph liked to golf and make various items of stained glass including windows, lamps & wall hangings. Joseph and his wife also loved to travel and experience new cultures.

He was preceded in death by: Parents: Joseph & Elythia

He is survived by: Wife: Dutzie of the home 2 Sons: Tim Nabonne & Gigi of Carollton, TX Joseph Nabonne & Michele of Noble 4 Daughters: Lisa Rhodes & Jerry of Eustace, TX Carol Nabonne-Kitchen & Tony of Longview, Tx Jessica Woodrow & Drew of Slaughterville Ruth Ellen Gardner & Mike of Ft. Sill 1 Sister: Sister Madeline Marie Nabonne of Mission San Jose, CA 1 Brother: Floyd Nabonne & Connie of Castro Valley, CA 15 Grandchildren 5 Great Grandchildren

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00a.m., Saturday, May 02, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Church, Purcell, OK. Viewing will be at 6:00p.m., Thursday, April 30. 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Church, with a Rosary following at 7:00p.m.
