Larry Joseph Myerscough

Larry Joseph Myerscough
March 6, 1940 ~ November 19, 2018

Larry Myerscough, age 78 of Purcell, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018.

Larry Joseph Myerscough was born March 6, 1940 in Taylorville, IL, the older of 2 children and only son of Joseph Julius Myerscough and Dorothy Elizabeth (Mudd) Myerscough. He was raised in Taylorville and attended school there.

Larry loved horses and bull riders, and developed this love at an early age. As a young man, he worked on his uncle's farm to raise money to show his own horses.

Larry married young, and to this union, 3 children, daughter, Holly and sons, Larry Jr. and Daniel were born.

Larry's love for horses ultimately determined his career in life. On a recommendation from an acquaintance, Larry began working for Foxy Lady Quarter Horses. Little did he know that he would meet his best friend and soul mate, and never mind the fact that she was his new boss, Marilyn.

Larry and Marilyn were inseparable and this friendship turned into a lifetime commitment. Larry and Marilyn made it official and were united in marriage on July 16, 1982 in Plano, IL, and two families became one. Larry later worked for the American Quarter Horse Association for many years, sharing his vast knowledge of the industry. He and Marilyn settled in Purcell in 1996 and have called it home ever since. When not working, Larry followed the rodeo scene and particularly bull riding. Larry was a "True Cowboy"; a man of his word and a man of great faith. Family was everything, and he cherished Marilyn, his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed!
