Lorene (Garner) Murrell
Aug. 20, 1919 ~ Aug. 31, 2015

Lorene Murrell, affectionately known as "Aunt Lo" and "Pooh" by the great-grandchildren, was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Eufaula, Okla., to Vernon Lee "V.L." and Bessie (Burnett) Garner and went to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2015.

Lorene married Milton "Jack" Murrell. They lived briefly in Kansas City, Kan., before making Enid, Okla., their home. To their union, they were blessed with four children: Jacqueline, Cortez, Milton Jr. and Carolyn.

Lorene spent a time as a homemaker and babysitter to many in the community. She also retired after 23 years of service at Enid State School.

Lorene was a faithful and active member at Grayson Missionary Baptist Church of Enid, Okla.

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; children, Jacqueline (Murrell) House, Cortez "Jugg" Murrell, Milton "Fats" Murrell Jr.; sisters, Lena "Tiny" Walker, Shirley Vine, Betty Watts; and brother, Alfred "Bubba" Garner.

Lorene leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Carolyn Murrell, of the home; four granddaughters; two grandsons; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Grayson Missionary Baptist Church. Memorial arrangements are by Grant Owens Mortuary of Ardmore, Okla.
