Roy Lee Murray

Roy Lee Murray
April 22, 1942 ~ May 20, 2020 (age 78)

Roy Lee Murray was born on April 22, 1942, in Clinton, Tennessee to Richard Austin and Lillian Wilma (Bullock) Murray. He passed away on May 20, 2020, at his home near Comanche. He was 78.

A graveside service in Springtown, Texas is being planned for at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Roy was a graduate of Lake Worth (Texas) High School. He worked for 40 years in the steelyards in Wichita Falls and Fort Worth areas, building tresses for bridges all over the United States. He moved to the Comanche area in 2008 from Springtown, Texas. He loved to go fishing. Roy coached football and basketball for the Boys Club of Wichita Falls and also was a basketball referee for them. He served as Scout Master for the Boy Scouts there also. Roy volunteered at the Christian Helping Hands of Comanche. He loved to spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Murray; parents, Richard and Lillian Murray; sister, Betty Ruth Murray; and brother, Gene Murray.

Roy is survived by his children: Donna Barnes of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Randy and wife Debra Houston of Comanche; Charla Murray of Duncan; Richard Murray of Arlington, Texas; Perry Houston of Bowie, Texas; Rhonda Beyard of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Jimmy Murray of Spiro, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and brother, Rosco Murray of San Antonio, Texas.
