Charlene (Walter) Muret

August 20, 1937 ~ December 24, 2020

Charlene Muret, age 83, longtime resident of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020 at the home of her daughter (Charla Wright) in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Charlene was born on August 20, 1937 in Peckham, Oklahoma, the first child of Robert and Elnora (Beau) Walter. She attended schools in Wichita, Kansas and Newkirk, Oklahoma, graduating from Newkirk High School in 1955. She married Otis Pappan in March of that year and welcomed three children: Charla, Froma, and Otis Pappan, II (Butch). Otis then preceded her in death. She married Jerry Muret in 1961 and their family grew to include Brad and Shawna. He predeceased her in October 2002.

Charlene was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, responsible for the safety of three ornery children (excluding Charla and Shawna). The three middle children kept her busy enough. She enjoyed traveling with Jerry to Elks Lodge Conventions and many vacations to various Oklahoma lakes, especially entertaining at the family cabin at Blackwell Lake. After attending an OU football game in high school Charlene was instantly drawn to the Sooners winning culture and spent many Saturdays in Norman and visitor stadiums celebrating OU victories. Charlene and Jerry were supportive and involved parents and grandparents, attending many wrestling tournaments, baseball games, and twirling competitions. In addition, she served as homeroom mother at both Washington and Houston Elementary in Blackwell, den mother for Cub Scouts, and leader of the Twisting Blue Birds.

Upon retirement she relocated to Ponca City to be closer to her children. She is survived by daughter Charla and husband Merl Wright of Ponca City; daughter Froma and husband Craig Wolc of Ponca City; son Otis (Butch) Pappan of Tonkawa; son Brad Muret of Ponca City; and daughter Shawna and husband Shane Sanders of Midwest City. Survivors also include grandchildren Bart and Braxton Wright, Morgan and Mallory Wolc, Nicole Lemon and Braden Muret; great-grandson Jaymason Wright; sister Joyce Casady and brother Rob Walter; and several cousins including Thomasene Wolfe.

A private celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 27th, 2020.
