Carole Joan Moyer

Carole Joan Moyer
March 5, 1934 ~ April 14, 2017

Carole Joan Moyer, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away April 14, 2017, Claremore, OK. She was 83 years old. Carole was born on March 5, 1934 to Guilford and Neva Shreckengaust in Galveston, TX.

Carole worked as a prominent business woman owning and operating multiple businesses in Oklahoma for over 50 years. She was the first woman franchise owner of a Hertz Car Rental Licensee in Ponca City, Stillwater, Enid, Bartlesville, and Guthrie. As an owner, she held a seat on the National Hertz Franchise Owners Association Board of Directors. When Carole wasn't working, she enjoyed traveling with her family and friends to beautiful places in Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, India, Europe, Southeast Asia, as well as the U.S.

If you knew Carole, you knew her pets were an essential part of her family. She was a huge animal lover always caring for several animals at a time and never turning away a stray. In addition to taking care of her animals, Carole enjoyed working outside at her farm west of town, cleaning, mowing, trimming, and working in her yard.

Carole's passion in life was her family and friends. She was known as a wonderful, caring, and loving mother. She had a knack for writing poetry for fun and for special occasions for friends and family. As an avid chef, she enjoyed making meals for her family and cooking weekend breakfasts for lifetime friends. Thankfully, she passed her love for cooking down to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Michelle and husband, Doug Macdonnell of Stillwater, OK, Brent Moyer of Costa Rica, Parke Moyer and wife, Barbie of Austin, TX, Mitch Moyer and wife, Darlene of Ponca City, and Mike Moyer and wife, Kori of Layton, UT. Carole also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Mandy Hogge, Dara Evans, Cody Moyer, Madison Moyer, Max Moyer, Camille Moyer, and Cason Moyer, and one sister, Mary Ann Calvert of Atlanta, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Moyer, her parents, sister, Phyllis Hocker, and grandson, Drew Moyer.

Carole was proud to be an American and an Oklahoma. She loved life and everything that made it great. On Tuesday, April 25, 2017 we will celebrate the life of a wonderful woman at First Christian Church in Ponca City at 2:00 p.m. with Larry Metzger officiating.

During her life, Carole contributed to help support local sports teams, the arts, and animal rescues. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Ponca City Human Society, 900 W. Prospect, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Carole's close friends and immediate family are invited to lunch at the 1st Christian Church at 12:00 p.m. before her ceremony.
