James Henry Moss

James Henry Moss
July 23, 1937 ~ March 8, 2021

James Henry Moss age 83 of Denison, Texas passed away on March 8, 2021 in Denison, Texas. James was born on July 23, 1937 in Hobbs, New Mexico to James Stewart and Willie Fern (Bishop) Moss.

James moved to Achille in the 1940’s from Hobbs, New Mexico. He attended Achille and Calera schools where he accelerated at basketball and was a member of the State Championship Basketball Team in 1956 for Calera High School. James also attended Austin College in Sherman and SOSU in Durant and proudly served in the National Guard for 2 years. He married Diana C. Fisher on November 23, 1957 in Calera and they were blessed with 63 years of marriage and four children. James worked as heavy equipment operator and retired from General Motors as a shipping clerk after 39 years of service. He was member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Platter, OK and a 32nd degree Mason. James enjoyed ranching, sports and he had a deep love for family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents J.S and Fern Moss and sister Judy Deaton.

James is survived by is wife Diana Moss of the home; children David Moss and wife Lena of Frisco, TX, Stewart Moss and wife Cindy of Terrell, TX, Charles Moss and wife Connie of Krugerville, TX and Katherine Mendenhall and husband Myles of Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; siblings Eula Fern Hamilton of Frisco, TX, Lawrence Moss of Clayton, OK, Pris Buchanan of Durant, OK, and Donna Bullard of Durant, OK; brother in law Jerry Deaton and numerous extended family and friends.

A celebration of James’s life will be held April 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Charles Moss will officiate.
