Gloria (Waken) Morrison
August 19, 1921 ~ July 17, 2018

Long-time Camarillo, California, resident Gloria Morrison passed away July 17, 2018, at her home in Austin, Texas. Gloria was born in Omaha, Nebraska, August 19, 1921, to Charles and Anne Waken, of Enid, Oklahoma. 

Gloria graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Enid, Oklahoma, in 1939. She attended Oklahoma A&M College, then transferred to the University of Missouri, where she graduated with a degree in journalism.

Gloria moved to California, and became the beauty editor for the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. 

In 1963, she married Donald Morrison and raised two children, Douglas and Camile, in Camarillo, California.

An avid bridge player, Gloria won her American Contract Bridge League Master during the 1990s. She was a baseball fan, loved her horses and dogs, but her Lord Jesus and her family always came first in her life.

Gloria is survived by Doug Morrison and his wife Dana of Austin, Texas (son); Camile Morrison of Corona, California (daughter); Cody Iside, (grandson) Isabela; Lylliana (great-grandaughter) and Nicholas (great-grandson); Bill and Emily Waken of Enid (brother). 

Her parents (Charles and Anne Waken) and three brothers (Harvard, Charles, and George) preceded her in death. Aunt Gloria will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and cousins in California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Georgia.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, July 28, 2018, at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Camarillo, California. Arrangements in care of Erin Arteaga, funeral director.
