Billie (Fore) Morehead

Billie (Fore) Morehead
September 20, 1928 ~ January 31, 2019

Billie Morehead, age 90 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019. Billie Fore was born September 20, 1928 in Healdton, OK, the youngest of 6 children born to William Lafayette Fore and Essie (Ogletree) Fore. When Billie was a young girl, the family moved a bit, settling where they could find work, and eventually settled in Washington. Billie attended Washington Schools, graduating with the Class of 1947.

Billie met a young man at a Washington Basketball game named Binford Morehead, and her life was changed forever. They fell in love and were married on February 9, 1947 in a double wedding with Binford's sister Patty and L.B. Collins. Together they raised four sons, David, Danny, Darrell and Randy.

Billie worked side by side with Binford on the family homestead, farming broomcorn, peanuts, cotton, sesame and corn. She was a devoted wife and mother, and worked tirelessly, caring and providing for their every need. Billie had a natural green thumb and always raised a large garden. Billie was a very caring and giving person and took great joy in sharing the fruits of her gardening with many friends and family members. She also spent many hours canning and freezing fruits and vegetables from their garden. She was a talented seamstress.

In later years with semiretirement of the farm Billie spent many loving hours babysitting her grandchildren and also worked as an in-home baby sitter for the Walker family children Chelsie and Charlie of Norman and the Noah Ewing family twins Eli and Alex of Purcell who she grew to love as her own grandchildren.
