Jerry Dean Moody

Jerry Dean Moody
April 24, 1953 ~ July 21, 2017

Jerry Dean Moody passed away on July 21, 2017 at the age of 64.

Jerry was born in Bartlesville, OK to Elmer & Mary Etta Moody. He was the youngest of 3 children. He attended College High School in Bartlesville, OK.

On February 16, 1973 he married the love of his life, Janie. They have been married for 44 years. They resided in Caney for one year then moved to Independence Kansas where Jerry was employed at Hackney & Sons.

On February 25, 1976 he became a father for the first time to his son Richey. He was so proud and happy. He and Janie moved back to Caney in late 1976 where they bought their first home. In 1978 they welcomed their second child, Mindy, into the world. He had a precious daughter and his family was complete. He was the best husband and father anyone could even imagine one man could possibly be. His family will never forget how blessed they were. In 1998 he and Janie built their first new house. Jerry kept it so neat and trimmed. He took much pride in his home (especially at Christmas time-when he and Janie decorated their house to the max). Jerry donated his time being a volunteer fireman for 20+ years before retiring. He was also a reserve police officer for many years before retiring from it as well. Jerry had a passion in life for spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved camping, riding 4-wheelers with Janie and many friends. Jerry loved the races where he drove in the 70's and then went on to actually be the flagman at Caney Valley Speedway for many years. It was his joy to sit in the stands or in the pits to cheer on his son Richey as he carried on the racing tradition.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 44yrs Janie, of the home, his son Richey and wife Rachel of Bartlesville OK, daughter Mindy Fielder and husband Clay of Bartlesville OK, one brother Jackie Moody & Judy Conners of Bartlesville OK, one sister Sharon Hunt and husband Jim of Bartlesville Ok and his mother Mary Etta Hurst of Bartlesville OK. 5 grandchildren, Macayla, Daveion, Jade, Bryce and Trenton all of Bartlesville, and one great-grandchild to be born in October of this year. Jerry was definitely loved by his extended family and many, many friends who will miss him very much.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11-8 and Wednesday 9-12. Jerry's family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Tuesday, July 25, from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Dewey Church of Christ, with Mr. Steve Hamm officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, KS. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.

Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Jerry's family at
