Robert Brennon "Bob" Mitchell

Robert Brennon (Bob) Mitchell departed this life on October 11, 2023, at the age of 65 at Borger Healthcare in Borger, Texas.

The son of Duane Mitchell and Yvonne (Daniel) Mitchell, Bob was born March 7, 1958, in Guymon, Oklahoma. Bob was raised on the Mitchell Farm, east of Texhoma, Oklahoma and attended school in Texhoma, beginning in kindergarten and graduating with the Texhoma High School Class of 1976. Bob was active in band where he played the French horn, was on yearbook staff and active in FFA. He was selected by his classmates’ numerous times as Class Favorite. He was also a part of First Christian’s Youth Group. He was appreciated for his loyalty to friends and defined by his humor.

Bob attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University and later attended Oklahoma State University. After the death of his grandfather, Leland, and grandmother, Dortha Daniel, Bob owned and operated their family business, Leland’s Grocery, on the corner of Main & Second Street in Texhoma.

He would later begin his career in the lumber business, managing Texhoma’s Resident Lumber Company for his uncles, Fred and Raymond Sweet. It was at this time that Bob realized his gift was his ability to remodel existing homes in Texhoma. He remodeled one on Main Street and later the ranch house out on Sweet Ranch. His final remodel was the home owned by Fred and Pauline Sweet.

Bob and Nancy Hall, of Pritchett, Colorado married on February 2, 1986, at the former Fred & Pauline Sweet home. To this union were born sons, Bryce Daniel, and Kyle Benjamin. Bob eventually became engaged in farming and ranching for Fred Sweet.

Bob was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Leland and Dortha Daniel, and Kate Marshall; a nephew, Kendall Ryan Harland; his younger brother, Bret Wayne Mitchell; and his mother and father, Yvonne, and Duane Mitchell.

Bob is survived by his sons, Bryce Mitchell and children, Jaxon and Calvin Mitchell and Kayden Ruiz of Aubrey, TX; and son, Ben (Kati) Mitchell of Texhoma, OK and children, Mason, Breelyn, and Saylor; his sister, Carmen (Kenny) Harland of Hulbert, OK and daughter, Ashley (Kenny) Lanman and their children, Kendall and Kellen of Edmond, OK; son, Zach (Ashley) of Tahlequah; his brother, Tommy (Cathy) and their sons of Texhoma, OK, Brady (Kristi) Mitchell and their children, Trent and Allie; son, Jamey (Chelsey) Mitchell and their daughters, Emma and Maddie.

Graveside services will be at Texhoma, Texas Cemetery on Tuesday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Buddy Young of Canyon, Texas officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
