L.C. Mitchell

L.C. Mitchell
December 22, 1940 ~ March 10, 2024

L.C. Mitchell was born December 22, 1940, to Oscar and Nealie Mitchell in Castle, Oklahoma. He departed this life March 10, 2024, at the age of 83.

He graduated from Boley High School and later received a certificate of graduation from Okmulgee Technical School. On September 22, 1964, L.C. Mitchell and Hazel Gordon were united in marriage. From this union were born two children, James and Jeanetta. They enjoyed 52 years together before her passing September 15, 2016.

He retired from Monarch Pipe Company and worked at Kemps Drug Store for over fifty years. He enjoyed taking his son rabbit and squirrel hunting as well as playing basketball. L.C. loved all sports but especially baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also worked at Woodland Village assisting the elderly as a senior companion. L.C. was a faithful member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by one son, William James Mitchell; one daughter, Jeanetta Mitchell; five sisters, Marie Overstreet, Opal Robinson, Hazel Irving, Perlie Williams, and Bertha Mitchell; grandchildren, Levi Iverson, LeeAnn Iverson, Jessica Robertson, Jamie McFarland and husband Gary; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Willow, Gabby, Clark, David, James, and Nadia, as well a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, James Mitchell, Ira Mitchell, R.C. Mitchell, J.W. Mitchell and Oscar Mitchell Jr.; three sisters, Geneva Mitchell, Ruby Greaham, and Clara Jones.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00PM, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Bristow, Oklahoma.
