Charles Richard Mitchell was born on December 6, 1953, to Raymond Richard & Mae Ellen (Brown) Mitchell. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 71 years.
Growing up, Charles attended school up until the 11th grade in Locust Grove. Though he briefly attended Marine boot camp, his deep patriotism remained a hallmark of his character throughout his life. For over 25 years, Charles made Locust Grove his home. He worked for many years as a truck driver, retiring from the Mayflower Trucking Company after countless miles on the road, transporting goods for long-distance & nationwide movers.
Charles enjoyed the simpler pleasures in life, such as fishing, shelling & drinking, humorously describing his favorite drinks as “Natty Light” or “Whatever Was Wet”. He was an avid fan of westerns on television. Known for his cantankerous & stubborn nature, Charles was undeniably ornery, facing life's challenges with resilience & determination.
Charles is survived by: his ex-wife: Carmen Jennings of OK; 6 Siblings: Patricia Mitchell of Jenks, OK, Steve Mitchell of Millington, TN, Wilma Thomason of Jenks, OK, Kathy James of Coweta, OK, Brian Mitchell, & David Mitchell, both of Locust Grove, OK; 8 Nieces and nephews: Owen Mitchell of Locust Grove, OK, Alex James of Coweta, OK, Crystal Sumner of Jenks, OK, Charles Mitchell of Oregon, Jeffrey James, and Sara Thulesen, both of Coweta, OK, Steve Mitchel Jr. of Millington, TN, Marcus Mitchell of Coweta, OK; Numerous grand nieces & nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Charles was preceded in death by: his parents: Raymond & Mae Mitchell; 2 nephews: Lester Mithcell & Bobby James; and 1 grandnephew: Braidey James.
A celebration & gathering to honor Charles' life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Denise “Mouse” Thrash’s residence, located at 10895 S. 437, Locust Grove, OK. Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish of their choice to the gathering. Cremation services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
