Rose Marie (Reed) Milton

Rose Marie (Reed) Milton
December 16, 1927 ~ April 29, 2016

After a brief battle with cancer, Rose Marie Milton went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2016. She was born December 16, 1927 in Burneyville, OK. Rose was the youngest of three children born to James H. & Mattie Novella Reed.

After graduation, Rose & a friend moved to Midwest City and went to work for Douglas Aircraft. It was while working there that she met & married the love of her life, J.C. McGee, who was in the Air Force and stationed at Tinker.

During the years her children were growing up, Rose and her family lived in Arizona, and then California. Throughout those years, she worked as a hair dresser to help supplement the family income. In 1994 Rose moved back to Guthrie to be closer to family. In her desire to stay busy, she sought a job at the Guthrie Walmart. Rose ended up working nearly 18 years before retiring in January of 2012 at the age of 83.

During the years she worked, she developed some very close personal friendships with many of her co-workers. She cherished her friends and the time they spent together. Whether they were bowling, playing cards, or going to the casinos, they were always having a good time. She also loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings. She loved to see her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C., her parents, her brother Jim Reed, her sister Annette Gould, as well as two daughters, Annette Summers and Debra Morgan.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Kathryn McGee, Guthrie, five grandchildren, Lisa Grissom, Edmond, Jamie Root, Bristol, Joshua Morgan, Union City, Jessica Morgan, Guthrie, and Ashley Beason, Cordell. Shes also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A Memorial service is planned at a later date at Smith Memorial Chapel at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
