John H. Middleton, Jr.

May 21, 1923 ~ April 30, 2016

John H. Middleton, Jr. was born on May 21, 1923 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to parents John H. and Lelah May Middleton. He passed from this life on April 30th, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

John attended Collinsville schools and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1941. He graduated from the University of Tulsa and was a veteran of the Army Air Corp, stationed in Panama during his service.

He married Marquise O. Tyler in 1950 and their union produced two children J.H. & Marcie Dene. He was a partner with Colpitt, Middleton, and Nickel Engineering, retiring in 1985. John enjoyed many hobbies and pursuits throughout his life to include hunting, fishing, photography, wine making, bowling and dancing. He was blessed with many wonderful lifelong friends as a result. He also coached little league baseball teams for several years and enjoyed retelling stories about the players and team rivalries later in his life. He served as the Collinsville City Engineer for several years and was involved with planning the Collinsville 'Old Timers' Class reunions for many years. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and begin their careers and families. He was preceded in death by his wife Marquise of 54 years in 2004, sister Marcella Colpitt and his parents.

Surviving family members include son, J.H. & daughter-in-law Wilma Middleton of Jenks, OK, daughter Marcie Bradley & son-in-law, Will Bradley of Yukon, OK, grandchildren, Tara Daugherty, Tulsa, Dr. Adam Meledeo, San Antonio, TX, Travis Middleton, Tulsa, Sasha Bradley, Oklahoma City, Taylor Bradley, Bethany OK, and Jenny Howell, Eufaula, OK and nine great grandchildren. Nephew John M. Turner of Grand Lake and niece Lynn Turner Bradley of Colorado Springs, CO. Two special friends, Mary Golden, his companion for several years, and Esther Leach, his care-giver for the past 6 years and housekeeper/friend for over 40 years.

He was dearly loved and will be missed.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), American Heart Association (www.heart.org), or the American Cancer Association (www.cancer.org).
