Edward Joseph "Ed" Michaud

Edward Joseph "Ed" Michaud
November 26, 1940 ~ July 2, 2022

Ed Michaud was born on November 26, 1940 to Henry and Mary Michaud in Hodge, LA and died in Oklahoma City on July 2, 2022 at 81.

Ed graduated as a commissioned Air Force Officer from Louisiana Tech University and served five years of service in the air Force as a navigator, earning the Outstanding Athlete award in his navigator class. He flew many C-130 Troop carrier and resupply missions into Vietnam, for which he was awarded the Air Medal. His five-year military service immensely impacted the rest of his life. He carried incredible stories with him, and sharing them with others brought him great joy.

After his military service he became a successful insurance salesman and Medicare advisor. Ed was a letterman on the LA Tech golf team and continued to love and play the game the rest of his life. He was also very involved in coaching and refereeing soccer games, eventually becoming a certified high school referee. The National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association, of which he was a member, honored him with several awards of outstanding service to the sport. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Soccer Association Hall of Fame in 2014. Ed was a strong Christian. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Everyone could always count on a big hug and kin words from him right when they stepped through the door. His grandchildren loved their fun-filled days with him. He also loved working in his yard with lots of creative projects; he could be seen daily enjoying his yard and waving at his neighbors and all of the dog walkers. OU and OKC Thunder have lost one of their greatest fans.

A memorable moment from one of Ed's last days with us was when we were talking with him about the new Top Gun movie. He responded by saying the word "Maverick" in a strong, matter-of-fact reply. This word describes Ed Michaud well. He was independent, strong-willed, and extremely proud of his Air Force service. He was a force to be reckoned with, strong in his beliefs, and he did everything with conviction-from dedicating himself to his jog and hobbies to loving his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Michaud, and brothers, Jackie Michaud, Pete Michaud, and Lorne Michaud. Survivors include wife, Brenda Carpenter Michaud; son Mark Michaud and wife Stephanie of OKC: son Dean Michaud and wife Lisa of Norman, OK; daughter, Sharla Sullivan and husband Michael of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Taylor Franklin and husband Ryan; Jenae Miller and husband Logan; Melanie, Brandon, and Ryan Michaud; and Andrew and Holly Sullivan; sister Mary Ellen Briehn and husband Donnie of Bossier, LA; brother Carroll Michaud and wife Gwen of Shreveport, LA; and brother Andre Michaud and wife Diane of Houston, TX. A memorial service will be held on July 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service.
