Douglas Gene Michael
June 6, 1955 ~ July 6, 2019

Douglas Gene Michael died at home on July 6, 2019 in Portland, OR due to complications following bladder cancer. He was 64.

Doug was born on June 6, 1955 in Enid, OK to Gene and Shirley Michael. He graduated from Enid High School in 1973. He received a degree in Anthropology and Music performance from Philips University in Enid, OK. Doug worked at Loomis Furniture and the Ethan Allen Carriage House in Enid OK, before moving to Tulsa, where he worked for the Williams Company and played viola in the Tulsa Philharmonic. Arthur Johnson and Doug built a life together, before Art’s untimely death in 1987.

Doug moved to Salt Lake City where he met Lester Emmett. They both moved back to Tulsa, before settling in Seattle, WA. With Les’ death Doug moves to Portland, OR where he remained for the last seventeen years. Doug married John Nettleton in 2014.

Doug was a senior Data Administrator for Web MD Health Services in Portland for the past thirteen years.

Mr. Michael is survived by his husband John of Portland, step mother Virginia Michael of Williamsport MD, brother John Michael, nephew Jeffrey and grand-niece Alyssa of Colorado Springs CO. He is preceded in death by his partner's Art Johnson, Les Emmett and, both of his parents

Mr. Michael's ashes will be spread at a private ceremony on Tuesday, August 30, on the Oregon Pacific coast . In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society Mosaic web page for Doug G Michael.
