Doris Lolita "Coke" (Lane) Meyer

Doris "Coke" Meyer, age 97, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017. The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 3rd at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Bartlesville First Church with Reverend Tari Carbaugh officiating.

Doris Lolita Meyer was born November 12, 1919 in Chelsea, OK to James Gunter and Maude Belle (Mooney) Lane. Coke was very active in the Pocahontas Indian Women's Club of Claremore,  The Bartlesville Indian Women's Club and the Will Rogers Memorial. She was also active in multiple historical societies, the American Legion Auxiliary, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Washington County Cherokee Association, the Salvation Army and other numerous groups. Coke wrote her book, "I Called Him Uncle Will", which was published in 2012. She chronicled many family memories she felt blessed to share.

Coke is survived by two sons: Jerry Meyer and wife Suzie of Liberty, KS, Jim Meyer and wife Susan of Bartlesville. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Stacey Meyer of Dallas, TX, Melissa Myers of Frisco, TX, Joshua Meyer of Bartlesville, Kinis Meyer of Princeton, KS, Kirk Meyer and his wife Janeth of Nashville, TN, two great grandchildren, Julia & William McCommas of Frisco, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Coke was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James W. Meyer, son, Billy Bob Meyer, brother, Bob Lane and three sisters Ethel "Mimi" Nichols, Jane McDonald and Maude "Pudgie" Tucker.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral
Home.
