Joseph Shawn Metcalf
February 17, 1964 ~ October 23, 2023

Joseph Shawn Metcalf, 59, of Platter, Oklahoma, passed away on October 23, 2023 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Joseph, fondly known as Shawn, was born to Junior Metcalf and Patricia Reed, on February 17, 1964, in Durant OK where he grew up in a close-knit family. He loved to hunt and fish and loved being out on Lake Texoma with his family, especially around the campsites at Platter Flats. Being at camp was his little slice of heaven and he enjoyed visiting and feeding anyone who needed a meal and was always there to lend a helping hand in any community benefit.

He is survived by his mother, Pat Reed, his loving wife, Deanna Metcalf, his sister, Renee & brother-in-law Carlos Olguin, his brother, Bryan Metcalf and sister in law Marilyn, his children, Lindee & son-in-law Cody Davis, Dustin Metcalf, Brittni & son-in-law Kasey Kuykendall, Alli & son-in-law Cody Townsend, Tiffany Gardner & CJ Henry, Hunter Metcalf & Emilee Cummins, Danica & Josh Gibson and Sherry Lopez, his grandchildren: Nikki Metcalf & Toby Rodriguez, Kinzee Coker & Parker Renfro, Dakoda Metcalf & Haydon Springer, Ty Davis, Avy Wright, Seth Davis, Ajay Metcalf, Corbin Townsend, Zayden Wright, Riley Wright, Kadie Metcalf, Jordyn Townsend, Roman Wright, Oakley Kuykendall, Bryce Gibson, Laryn Gibson and his soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Taylee Grace Renfro. He is also survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews and close family friends.

He is preceded by his fathers, Junior Metcalf and Roy Reed, his siblings, Roy Lee Reed Jr, and Velvern Reed, his grandson, Talon Grey Kuykendall, and his niece, Jessica Bundrant.

To honor Shawns wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. We will have a celebration of life Saturday, November 11, 2023(weather permitting) at 4pm next to his pond. Bring your fishing pole and your favorite memories.
