January 24, 1949 ~ March 18, 2022

 Tom Meritt, 73 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Potts officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Billings Funeral Home.

January 24, 1949 ~ March 18, 2022

 Tom Meritt, 73 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Potts officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Billings Funeral Home.

Thomas Frederick Meritt was born on January 24, 1949 in Enid, Oklahoma to Wayne Elmer and Alice Mildred (Combs) Meritt. Tom grew up in Jefferson, Oklahoma and attended and graduated from Pond Creek High School. Tom enlisted into the United States Army in February 1969. He was united in marriage to Virginia (Smith) Meritt on July 28, 1972 in Medford, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Medford, then moved on to El Reno and living the rest of their lives in Woodward. Tom worked various positions in the oilfield before working as a Mental Health Aide for the State of Oklahoma before retiring.

He enjoyed gardening, collecting, tinkering, garage sales, listening to Tradio. His greatest joy was his family, kids, and grandkids.

Tom is survived by his children, Skyla Potts and husband Mike of Yukon; Tommy Meritt and wife Cathy; Travis Meritt and wife Tanya all of Woodward; seven grandchildren, Jordan; Cole; Tobi; Seth; Brenna; Adalynn; and Barrett; two great-grandchildren, Sophia; and Greyson; sister, Midred Willson; brothers, John Meritt and wife Judy; Ray Meritt and wife Mary; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ginger, sisters, Phyllis, Leota, Lila, Bertie, and June; brothers, Wayne, Warren, Laurence, Earl, and James.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
