Jeanette Marie Mefford of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday, November 14, 2020, in the Stillwater Medical Center – Blackwell at the age of 83 years.

Jeanette Marie Mefford was born on November 9, 1937, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Evans S. Jewell (DeFreese) Oliver. During her teenage years they moved to Tampa, Florida, where she finished high school. She married Raymond Allen Brown in 1955 and they moved to various military bases where he was stationed. She later moved to Norman, Oklahoma, and attended the University of Oklahoma. She married James Ross Mefford and later began her career and a drug and alcohol counselor. In 2001 she received her master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She owned and operated Northern Oklahoma Alcohol and Drug Counseling Service in Blackwell. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 2, 2020. She enjoyed caring for her cats.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Lonquest of Plano, Texas, and Jim Witcher of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with James W. Roberts officiating.
