William Edward Meeks

William Edward Meeks
April 2, 1928 ~ May 21, 2021

Ed departed this life for his new life May 21, 2021 surrounded by family. Ed was a man of deep faith and the anchor to his family. Rose led Ed to the Lord in 1954. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and held other church offices.

Ed was born near Wagoner, Ok on April 2, 1928. He had just celebrated his 93rd birthday. His parents were Thomas M. Meeks and Dela M Summers Meeks. He attended all his schooling at Okay, Ok graduating with the class of 1948. He excelled in all sports and enjoyed them all his life. Ed was the 6th out of 7 children.

Ed was in the US Army in 1949. Ed joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) in June of 1950. Ed worked as a heavy equipment operator at Public Service and Southwestern Power Administration until retirement. He was a 71 year member of the IBEW.

Ed married Rose Francis Anderson Meeks on August 12, 1950. They were married 71 years.

Ed coached little league baseball for his children and grandchildren for many years. He was also the transportation hauling them to school, games and trips.

He is proceeded in death by his son Mark Steven Meeks, Sr, grandsons Mark Meeks, Jr and Timothy Allen Huggins.

He leaves behind his wife Rose Meeks, son William E. "Bill" Meeks, Jr and Priscilla, daughter Ona Goodman and DeWayne, daughter Iva Guinn and Donnie. Grandson Jim Huggins, granddaughter Gina Huggins, grandson Zachary Meeks and Sharon, grandson Eric Meeks and Carol Anne, granddaughter Dr. Emily Williams and Deric, granddaughter Edwina Williams and Brad, granddaughter Jennifer Collins and Stephen, grandson Jonathan Goodman and grandson Billy Meeks. 21 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and another boy on the way. Sister Fay Cleary. A host of loving nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Our family would also like to thank the staff of MedCor Home Health for their loving care. Lastly but certainly not the least Ed's doctor and friend for almost 40 years Dr. Yee See Ong. Ed was definitely saddened by his death and felt he lost a best friend.

Memorial Service is at 1 PM Thursday May 27th at Lescher Millsap Chapel on Chandler Rd. Lunch immediate following Memorial at Oasis Community Church Fellowship Hall on Peal Blvd.
