Mary Ann (Sexton) Meehan

Mary Ann (Sexton) Meehan
May 21, 1946 ~ October 27, 2023

Mary Ann Meehan (Sexton), 77, of Longdale, Oklahoma began her eternal life on Friday, October 27, 2023 at home surrounded by family.

MaryAnn was born May 21, 1946 at Fairview, Oklahoma to Norma Jean and Olin Sexton. She was raised in Longdale, OK. She married Hershel Smith in 1965, having 1 child Cherise, and later married Ronald Jay Goldston Sr. in 1972, having 3 children Ronna, Jr., and Jesse Goldston, and bought a home in Longdale, OK. Her education was very important to her even at a very young age, she earned valedictorian of her 8th grade class and graduated from Canton High School in 1964. She enjoyed playing basketball and Softball while in school. She later studied at NWOSU and SWOSU where she earned 3 Masters Degrees (One being after she was 50)! She believed anytime was a great time to learn something new. While she had many jobs during her lifetime Teaching and Counseling were her true passions. She felt great accomplishment in these careers being able to serve and help others.

MaryAnn loved so many things about her earthly life. She loved the lake, spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She loved gardening, cooking, traveling, going to the casino, singing, reading, writing about her days, and using her gift of reading palms. Playing games of all kinds, cards, dice, backgammon, ect. brought her great joy! Any time she visited with someone they would be offered to play a game, a cup of coffee, and usually some food. She provided a sense of comfort and a little counselling to everyone that she spoke to. MaryAnn lived with a true servants heart! No matter how little she had she was always eager to help anyone she noticed in need. An ear to listen, a warm jacket, a meal, a place to stay, or a hug she was happy to give anything she could to help. She truly saw the good in each and every person she met.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her Mother Norma Jean Sexton, Father Olin Sexton, one brother Jim Sexton, her oldest daughter Cherise VanDusen, one grandson Matthew Bush, and a great-grandson Dyzen Prouty. She is survived by her three children Ronna Goldston, Jr. Goldston and wife, Terri, and Jesse Goldston, one brother Terry Dean Sexton, 6 Grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a plethora of extended family members.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Longdale Gym with Pastor Lucas White officiating. In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to Hospice Circle of Love or any charity of your choosing with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
