James "Ralph" McNutt

James "Ralph" McNutt
December 10, 1947 ~ March 23, 2025

James Ralph McNutt, known affectionately as Ralph to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, at the age of 77 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born on December 10, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Bill Owen and Betty Lee (Wells) McNutt.

Ralph spent his professional life dedicated to serving the community through his work at Green Spray Grocery Store and Mackey's Home Furnishings, through which he made many friends along the way. His daughter would jokingly say he was like a politician with how we would greet people everywhere he went. While being a member of the First Baptist Church in Durant and Elks Lodge, Ralph found fellowship and brotherhood among friends. Whether you liked or disliked Ralph, everyone who knew him would say he was one of a kind.

In his downtime, Ralph was an artist, finding joy in painting and sculpting. He had a love of the open road, riding his motorcycle with the same freedom and adventure he experienced when creating his art pieces. Ralph's enjoyment of classic rock music and western films were simple pleasures he cherished throughout his life.

Ralph's legacy is carried on by his loving family. He is survived by his favorite daughter, Saige McNutt of Durant, his mother, Betty McNutt of Atoka, and his sister, Julie McNutt of Atoka. Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Bill McNutt, and his former wife and best friend, Susan McNutt, with whom he now rests in peace.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Services are under the care of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Avenue, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
