Dixie V. (Payne) McNutt

Dixie V. (Payne) McNutt
September 19, 1946 ~ May 5, 2025

Dixie V. McNutt passed away on May 5, 2025, in Plano, Texas, surrounded by her family. Dixie was born September 19, 1946, to Raymond T. and Edna A. (Brown) Payne in Picher, Okla.

She married Don J. McNutt on March 19, 1963, and bore three children. When she was 27 years old her mother died and she became a mother figure for her three younger siblings. Whether it be her time, her money or even her home, she shared with them any time it was needed. Her home was the hub of the family. Family get-togethers were held there, music and love filling the air. She cooked enough for an army, and no one ever went home hungry. Her homemade ice cream was the best. She was the rock of the family and will be greatly missed.

She worked for Robinson Eye Institute from 1979 to 2011. She made many lifelong friends there and held fond memories of her patients.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her four brothers, Virgil, Tommy, Clarence and Philip Payne, and one sister, Cheryl (Payne) Ridings.

Dixie is survived by her children, Emmett McNutt and wife Julie of Macomb, Okla., Kim Kee and husband Tom of Van Alstyne, Texas, Shelley Evans of Sedona, Ariz., Don McNutt and wife Kim of Shawnee, Okla., sister Nyla Watkins and husband Dean of Riverside, Wash., sister-in-law Millie Payne of Coyle, Okla., and brother-in-law Michael Ridings of Kansas. She also leaves behind numerous wonderful grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and an abundance of cousins, all of whom she loved so dearly.

She loved us and fed us all with her great big heart!

Services for Dixie are to be held Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. at the Macomb Gymnasium. For ease of delivery, please send flowers and plants to Reflection Salon, 1935 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee, OK 74801.
