Doris Maxine McMurphy

July 13, 1930 ~ January 11, 2022

Doris was born on July 13, 1930, in Woods County (west of Alva, Oklahoma) to Frank and Beulah McMurphy. Doris passed away on January 11, 2022.

Doris graduated from Farry High School and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva and Missouri State University in Springfield. She retired from Missouri State University as a professional secretary with CPS certification and emeritus status. Doris was extremely active as a Tri Sigma at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Girl Scout leader for her daughters, bowler and avid bridge player throughout her life. She was a member of ABWA, DAR, PEO and Red Hat Society and held numerous positions within these groups. Doris was an active member of Westbrooke Church in Overland Park, Kansas.

Doris was generous in donating her time to her various clubs and five grandchildren. She was a beloved grandma and great grandma with her loving spirit.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Debra Ann Rose, Donna Lea Martin and Leigh Anne Thomas (Robert); five grandchildren, Matthew Martin (Kristen), Amanda Myers (Nicholas), Callie Kelly (Finn), Myles Howell (Spencer), Madison Chaney (Spencer) and Keeli Thomas; six great grandchildren, Cash Kelly, Emilia Gutierrez, Harlow Kelly, Harper Martin, Magnolia Myers, Cruise Kelly; one brother, Verlin McMurphy (Betty); and several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband (James Lockhart), her parents and one brother.

A private service for immediate family will be at Floral Hills in Raytown, Missouri, with burial immediately following. Online condolences may be left at floralhillsfuneralhome.com.
