Mary Ann "Kubicek" McGee was born September 18, 1924, to Czech immigrants Anna "Skocdopolva" Kubicek and Frank Kubicek Sr. at Econtuchka, Okla. She died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 100.
Mary Ann was very active in 4-H Club activities and after graduating as valedictorian of her class at Centerview High School, was awarded a full scholarship to Oklahoma State University. She then attended and graduated from Hill's Business University in Oklahoma City, Okla.
For many years she worked as a supervisor at Tinker Field.
On April 15, 1950, she married Tate McGee Jr. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
Mary Ann loved to garden, cook, and bake. She was always willing to prepare a complete meal for Family Promise at St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Karen Sue, siblings Frank Kubicek Jr., Jim Kubicek and Jane "Kubicek" Quinnett; nephews Rick Kubicek, Ronald Kubicek, and Chris Quinnett.
She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Ann "Ann" and husband Dave Hodges of Wildwood, Mo., Anita Jane Wood of Seminole, Okla., Nancy Kay McGee of Shawnee, Okla., and Carolyn "Carol" and husband Elvis Shrum of Oklahoma City. She has four grandchildren and their spouses; Kathy and Lee Hobbs of Albuquerque, N.M., Betsy and Toby Licker of Creve Coeur, Mo., Patrick and Amber Wood of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Kasey and Dustin Ward of Yukon, Okla. S
he is also survived by a special cousin, Fran Bodvin, of Yakima, Wash. She also leaves behind t13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She has special "adopted" family of San Jose, Costa Rica, former exchange student Jose "Joe" Andres Mena Vincente, his wife Sandra, and family. Their family became our family and Joe's phone calls always started out "Hello, Mom". Mary Ann is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Mike and Kianna Kubicek of Shawnee. Mary Ann has requested there be no funeral service. The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
