Jerry G. McDaniel

Jerry G. McDaniel
April 27, 1940 ~ August 30, 2022

Jerry McDaniel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend entered his eternal rest on August 30th, 2022, at the age of 82. Born April 27, 1940, in Coleman, raised in Enterprise, he was the son of Ray and Ruth McDaniel. Jerry was raised on a farm in Enterprise, Oklahoma with six brothers and two sisters.

He was a farmer/rancher who enjoyed working on his farm and ranch, but most importantly he loved his family and friends. He always looked forward to a good domino game and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He became very interested in his family genealogy and spent countless hours researching and traveling to historic points of interest. He often shared accounts of his time serving on the Federal Grand Jury in 2008.

Most of the Jerry’s life was spent farming which started in 1965. He was honored in 1982 as a farmer who was making it in difficult times, when many farmers were deep in debt and having more trouble making ends meet. He was determined that his children would all start and finish at the same school, and they did. He said that he started with nothing and didn’t think about failing. Jerry wasn’t always a farmer. He attended the Vo-Tech school in Okmulgee after graduating from high school. Later some of his jobs were working in bridge and road construction where he became proficient as a bulldozer operator and to this day his passion was operating dozers and heavy equipment. He was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, serving as an elder in The Central Church of Christ in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years this month, Nita (Willingham) McDaniel, son, Grant McDaniel and wife Melissa, and son, Kelly McDaniel both of Enterprise, Oklahoma, and his daughter Lori (McDaniel) May and husband Jim of Cartwright, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Brandon Bussey, Lindsey Claborn, Kyle Bussey and wife Maria, Chenai Fincher, Will McDaniel and wife Brittany and Carson Wyatt. Great grandchildren, Allison and Carli Claborn, Jonathan and Garrett Fincher, Tucker and Maggie McDaniel, and Case Bussey. He is also survived by a sister Jeannie Hopkins and husband Rick, and brother Mark McDaniel and wife Glenda and a multitude of relatives and many close friends.

Mr. McDaniel is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruth McDaniel, brothers, Tommy, Jimmy, Darrell, Ted, and Mike McDaniel and sister Linda Trammell.

Pallbearers for the memorial service are Justin McDaniel, James Percell, Brandon Bussey, Will McDaniel, Kyle Bussey and Vance McDaniel. Honorary pall bearers are Dave Walters, Gary Huckleby, Raymond Hairell, Alan Cribbs, Chuck Riley, Eddie Olson, Larry Davis and Mark McDaniel.
