Thank You For Your Service!

George H. McCraw Sr.

1926 ~ 2005

Visitation for George H. McCraw Sr. will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Friday, August 5, 2005 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held in the beautiful Garden of Peace section at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Saturday morning, August 6, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. Chaplain Jack Taylor will officiate.

George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, LaRhonda; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Martha McCraw; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dan Reid; son and daughter-in-law, George and Cheryl McCraw Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Richard Bramlette; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Son of Reece and Carrie McCraw, George was the second of five children. Born in 1926 in Long Grove, Oklahoma, he came to California in the early 1940's where he met and later married LaRhonda.

George was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Foreman for Maizee Farms in Arvin, California for a number of years before becoming a local route driver for Kern Valley Trucking and later a driver for the Golden Empire Transit (GET) bus system in Bakersfield.

We will remember him as a kind, hard-working, self-sacrificing man who found his greatest joys in his family and his faith, who met chronic pain with simple grace and tenacity and who wished the goodness of life in Christ for everyone.

We will forever remember him as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

His service will be a celebration. For additional service or floral delivery information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
