John Tully McCoy, age 67, beloved husband and father, of Norman, OK (formerly Purcell) passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, November 22, 2015. Tully was born June 1, 1948 in Chickasha, OK to John William McCoy and Mildred Larue Dudley. Tully grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School with the class of 1966. He attended the University of Oklahoma and OU Law School, receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1973. In 1983 he was elected as the District Attorney for Cleveland, McClain and Garvin Counties and proudly served for 12 years. He then worked a number of years for the State Attorney General’s Office as the Director of the Medicaid Fraud Unit and later retired after three years in private practice.

Tully and wife, Janone, raised their three daughters in Purcell, OK. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell for over 40 years. He taught Sunday school, was a youth leader and sang in the choir. He was a member of many organizations including the Purcell Rotary Club, AARP and the Oklahoma Bar Association. He also served on the Purcell City Council and as Mayor of Purcell. He was a leader in many Purcell youth organizations and his most rewarding was serving as the attorney advisor for the Purcell High School Mock Trial Team. Tully loved his time spent with family and friends and never met a stranger. His passions included family, travel, cooking, playing tennis, OU Sooners and Purcell Dragon sports.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 44 years, Janone McCoy of Norman, OK; Three daughters, Amber McCoy and fianc� David Collins of Austin, TX, Kelly Barnes of Newcastle, OK, and Mandy McCoy and partner Maggie Russell of Portland, OR; Two grandchildren, Ethan Tully Barnes and Sydney Lane Barnes, and one grandchild on the way, baby girl Collins; Also several cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Monday, November 30, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell, OK. Send online condolences at www.wilsonlittle.com.
