Joyce Lynn McCoy

Joyce Lynn McCoy
January 30, 1954 ~ January 16, 2019

Joyce Lynn McCoy of Hunter, OK, passed away on Wednesday, January 16th, after a series of lengthy illnesses. She is survived by her husband Ripley (Rip) McCoy of Hunter, a son Ripley and his wife Ashly of Logan, UT, a son Charles and his wife Sara of Stillwater, OK, and a daughter Heather Desellier and grandson Ethan of Bellevue, WA.

She is also survived by a step-daughter, Kaye McBride and her husband Charles, along with 2 grandsons, Connor and Logan, of Baton Rouge, LA. Joyce absolutely adored all of her grandsons.

She is also survived by her mother, Mildred Irene Wright of Enid; 2 sisters, Cheryl Kost and Faye Theademan; and 3 brothers, Richard, Mark, and Darrel Wright. Another brother, Robert, is deceased.

Joyce spent most of her working life as a bookkeeper. She started at Nichols Rock and eventually went to work for Woolco, where she worked in the bookkeeping office. Joyce was very proficient at her job in the Oklahoma City area and was often asked to go to other stores to straighten out problems. At one point the corporate office in St. Louis asked her to become a traveling auditor for all of their stores. She turned down this position as it would have involved constant travel and being away from Rip and her children.

She also worked in bookkeeping for Wal-Mart for a number of years. She was even recognized by the CEO of Wal-Mart for her suggestion about preventing fraud through off-line sales. This policy was instituted nationally.

Joyce also served as the Clerk/Treasurer for the Town of Hunter and as the Assistant Postmaster for the Hunter Post Office. She also served in the church and the Cub Scouts along with a number of other projects.

Joyce was a wonderful mother and was very involved in her children's school activities. She loved shopping and flea markets. She and Rip enjoyed visits to Colorado and blues concerts. They spent 45 years together. Rip was by her side as she peacefully left this life.

"Between the sadness and the loneliness, there is the missing you. There is always the missing you."

Joyce requested that there not be a funeral service. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered in Colorado along with Rip's upon his passing.
