Valeria (Craig) McCamon
May 28, 1929 ~ February 9, 2021 (age 91)

Valeria Craig McCamon passed from this life on February 9, 2021, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 12 days at her home in Elk City, OK. Valeria was born May 28, 1929, on a farm west of Sayre to Lois and Otis Craig.

Valeria married Glen McCamon on April 25, 1946, in Madera, California. The family started attending church at the Assembly of God at 5th and Randall in the early ’50s. In the early-mid ’60s, she then taught a Sunday school class and helped with vacation bible school during the summer. She made sure the family attended all church services. They were taught to respect the people and the church. Years later, she attended Grandview church until her health prevented her from leaving home.

She worked for several years in the 1970s at Daylight Donuts and Elk City schools. She enjoyed working outdoors, watching old westerns, working crossword puzzles, and reading her Bible. Valeria was a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her eyes would light up every time anyone of the great-grandchildren came to visit.

Valeria is preceded in death by her parents Otis and Lois Craig, sisters Juell Nicholson and Odessa Sandusky, husband Glen McCamon, daughter Glenda White and her husband Jerry White, daughter-in-law Darlene McCamon, granddaughter Melynda Grabauskas, and great-grandson Corbin Beasterfeld.

Her four children survive Valeria, LaVera and her husband Kenneth Sorensen of El Reno, OK, John McCamon of Elk City, OK, Gregg and his wife Cathy McCamon of Elk City, OK, Craig and his wife Carolyn McCamon of Elk City, OK, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. One brother Duane and his wife Velma Craig of Kremlin, OK, one brother-in-law Bill and his wife Joann McCamon of Amarillo, TX and one sister-in-law Sue and her husband Joe Weaver of Holcomb, KS.

Services will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Whinery Chapel, Elk City.
