Nancy Jean (Carman) Mayberry
September 14, 1933 ~ March 14, 2020

On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Nancy J. Mayberry, loving wife and mother of two children, peacefully passed away at the age of 86 in Muskogee, OK. Nancy Jean Carman was born on September 14, 1933, in Bristow, OK to James Dyle and Lourene (Wickham) Carman. Nancy was the only daughter and youngest child with two older brothers, George F. and Dyle L. Carman. While she was still young, she accepted Christ as her personal savior at the First Christian Church, Bristow, OK. Nancy and her family moved to Ada, OK in the early 1940s, where she attended Ada Schools thru the 10th grade. While living in Ada, she met her future life mate, Clarence Mayberry. In 1949 the Carman family then moved to McAlester, OK. For her senior year in high school, Nancy attended Gulf Park College for Women, Gulf Port, MS, where she graduated in 1951. She continued her education at East Central State University in Ada, OK, and the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.

Nancy and Clarence Mayberry were married on October 17, 1953, at the First Christian Church in McAlester, OK. In 1962 they moved to Pryor, OK, where they welcomed two children into their family, Jana Beth in 1963 and Guy Mark in 1966. Nancy and Clarence recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

Nancy had the heart of a servant that showed in her daily life at church, helping in the kitchen at St Paul's United Methodist Church and in her business assisting clients with their travel needs. Nancy fulfilled her desire to serve others when she and Pauline Dodds purchased International Tours of Muskogee from Commercial Bank in 1975. After Pauline retired, Nancy added a travel agency branch office in Pryor, OK and Ticket and Travel in Muskogee. In 1990, she earned the Certified Travel Consultant (CTC) designation. Helping customers with their travel plans was one of her passions. She loved leading groups to exciting destinations like Alaska, Hawaii, England, Israel, and many more. Nancy served countless clients over the years, including the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) and The American Council of the Blind (ACB). In 2010 she was named a Legend of Women in Business in Muskogee by the Muskogee Chamber of Commerce Women's Leadership Conference.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, J. Dyle Carman, her mother Lourene Carman, and her brother George F. Carman.

Nancy is survived by her husband Clarence, her children Jana (and James) Lampe, and Guy (and Cyndi) Mayberry, grandchildren Ashley Marie Lampe, Andrea Jean Lampe, Austin James Lampe, Claire Morgan Mayberry and Grant Mark Mayberry, her brother Dyle L. Carman, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, OK. There will be a memorial service at St. Paul Methodist Church in Muskogee, OK on Saturday June 13 at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2130 W Okmulgee Ave, Muskogee, OK 74401.
