September 11, 1935 ~ July 20, 2020

Richard “Dick” Matzat passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater. He was 84. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 1PM at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater with Pastor Kyle Anderson officiating.

Dick was born September 11, 1935 in Chicago, IL, to Frederick and Mildred (Tidmarsh) Matzat.

He retired from PACTIV, formerly Kaiser Aluminum in Wanatah, IN.

In 1981, Dick married Bonnie Sallee, who also worked at PACTIV. They lived in Indiana and Florida before moving to Stillwater in 2005. Bonnie passed away in 2010.

Dick met Nila Belknap, while volunteering at the Stillwater Medical Center. They married in 2011 and lived at Primrose and Stillwater Christian Villa. Nila passed away in April 2020.

Dick was a member of United Methodist Men of Stillwater. He enjoyed watching Antique Road Show and wildlife, especially birds.

Dick is survived by many family members and friends who enjoyed his wit and dry sense of humor.

Bonnie Jean Matzat, age 78, of Stillwater, OK was born on May 8, 1932 to Morris and Charlotte (Kerns) Stinson in Owasso, Michigan and passed from this life on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Stillwater, OK. She grew up and attended school in Michigan later moving to Indiana.

She worked for Kaiser Aluminum Manufacturing for over 30 years. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, cooking, birdwatching and making peanut butter fudge. Bonnie volunteered at the Stillwater Medical Center and served community meals at the First United Methodist Church. She was most proud of her life when she became a Christian and mother. Her sweetest memories were the birth of her children and when she married Richard Matzat on Valentines Day in 1981. Bonnie loved the Lord dearly.

Memorial services for Bonnie are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Stan Warfield officiating. Memorials may be sent to Judith Karman Hospice c/o Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075.

She is survived by: husband Richard of the home. 2 sons; Edwin J Sallee of Hamlet, Indiana, M. Gregory Sallee of Wanatah, Indiana. 1 daughter; Sandra Huhnke of Stillwater. 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. 3 sisters; Lou Wyckoff of Valparaiso, Indiana, Rita Marshall of Valparaiso, Indiana and Cynthia Dawn Hokanson of Columbus, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by; both her parents, sister; Caroline Evener and 1 great-grandson; Brody Johnson.
