Oscar L. Mathews

November 13, 1891 ~ December 16, 1971

Oscar L. Mathews, 80, died Thursday afternoon in a local hospital after a long illness.

His funeral service will be Monday afternoon in the Shannon Funeral Chapel in Ft. Worth, Texas, with burial in the Rosehill Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

Mathews was born November 13, 1891, in Bonham County, Texas, and worked for Jones Hullsteder Engineering of Kansas City until retiring in 1956.

He came to Enid in the late 1930s and had lived here since that time. Mathews was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. A son Jerry preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Hattie of Houston, Texas, a son, Dan Mathews and a grandson, Kevin, both of Enid; a brother in five sisters.
