Eleanor Ann (Barbe) Mathews

January 28, 1939 ~ March 19, 2026

Eleanor Mathews passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness at her residence in Madill, OK on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Eleanor was born to the late Howard Clarke Barbe and Grace Anna Barbe in Bristolville, OH on January 28, 1939. Upon graduation from Mecca High School, Mecca, OH in 1957, she met Ed Mathews, a young salesman who worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. Farm Store in Warren, OH. After a brief courtship, they married on April 23, 1960, and together shared 61 years of marriage and 3 children: Barbara Ann, Charles Wayne, Mary Beth and chosen son, John Elkins. They were also blessed with 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is survived by all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Upon Ed's retirement from Sears, they owned and operated Barnacle Bill's Marina on Lake Tenkiller in Tahlequah, OK, operated Lake Murray Marina in Ardmore, OK and operated Bridgeview Marina, Madill, OK.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Centric Hospice, especially Alyssa, Jennifer and Megan, for their care and kindness during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Mom's memory to Centric Hospice or the animal shelter of your choice.
