Chance Braydon Mathews
August 27, 2002 ~ January 21, 2024

Chance Braydon Mathews was born August 27, 2002 in Oklahoma City to Erick and Rachel Mathews. He passed away January 21, 2024 in his home in Wellston at the age of 21.

Chance grew up in Wellston where he attended school and later went to Harrah where he graduated in 2022. Everyone he met was his friend, especially police officers and firemen. He enjoyed OSU football and used to like the Oklahoma City Thunder until the original players all left. He also enjoyed fishing, mowing on his grandpa’s tractor, brushing horses and his dogs. Chance loved his family and friends who will each cherish his memory.

Chance was preceded in death by his grandfather, James C. Peery; aunt, Becky Shields and uncle, Sam McCright. Survivors include his mother, Rachel Mathews, of the home; father, Erick Mathews of Wellston; sister, Jayden Mathews, of the home; grandparents, Eddie and Sally Mathews of Choctaw, Cynthia Peery; aunt, Heather Madden of Norman, uncles, Cameron Peery and Guy Peery; best friend, Clifton Franklin along with other family and many friends.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Chance will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Prader-Willi Syndrome Association or St Jude’s, both of which Chance held in high regards.
