Rev. Fayette "George" Massingill

Rev. Fayette "George" Massingill
August 19, 1925 ~ April 26, 2018 

Rev. Fayette "George" Massingill followed his twin brother Pat into this world, August 19, 1925, born to Pearl and and LaFayette Massingill Sr. in Bison, Oklahoma. He passed away April 26, 2018, in Hanford, CA. Fayette "George" went to school in Bison and attended Waukomis United Methodist Church.

At the age of 17, he and Pat volunteered for the Navy on Aug. 19, 1942. George left the Navy in 1948. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1949, and completed 20 years in the military. On June 30, 1946, he married Jeanne Rich and they had two sons, David and Glenn. During off-duty time in the Air Force, George worked to receive his Masters of Divinity in 1966. Following graduation, George, Jeanne, and Glenn were packed to leave for Brazil for three years of missionary work. Their son Davis was in college. In 1970, George accepted a call to ministry at the Lutheran Church in Caruthers, CA. After two years, he became administrator of Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma, CA. Later he became administrator of Solvang Home at Solvang, CA. In 1986, he retired from the ministry but was called back to serve as interim pastor. They lived a while in the mountains at Columbia near Sonora, CA. In 2000 they moved to Hanford, CA, to be closer to David and his wife Sharon. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings (including his twin brother Pat); and his son Glenn on April 11, 2018.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne; son David and daughter-in-law Sharon; his sister Nona Miller Lang of Enid; sister-in-law, Audine Massingill, of Modesto, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews.
