Merlyn "Mert" (King) Martin

Merlyn "Mert" (King) Martin
September 16, 1945 ~ December 23, 2022

Merlyn Martin, or Mert, as she was called by everyone who knew her, died Friday, December 23, 2022. She was 77 years old.

Mert was born on September 16th, 1945 in Stillwater and was the daughter of Merle and Helen King. She grew up in Stillwater where she attended Stillwater High School and Oklahoma State University. After college, Mert started a family where she had her 3 sons, Todd, Wade, and Jamie.

Mert spent many years living in Burbank, Oklahoma. She worked at the Burbank Post Office and got to know everyone. She never met a stranger and those folks who were lucky enough to meet her instantly loved her kind and generous spirit. She loved Burbank and her life and nothing gave her more joy than to see her extended family be happy and thrive. She was the ultimate protector of her loved ones and I am sure that she is up in heaven watching over us right now.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Martin, brother Gary King, father Merle King, mother Helen King and her granddaughter Pasia Morrison.

Mert is survived by 5 children, Todd Lessert and his wife Kristi, Wade Lessert, Jamie Lessert and his wife Haley, Jay Martin and his wife Stephanie and Dallas Martin and his wife Sherry. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren which include Linen and husband Jonathan, Nate, Ben, Natalee, Jake, Danner, Kasen, Ladon, Shiloh and Shasta. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren which include Emersyn, Lucy, Hayden and Emerie.

Mert attended First Baptist Church of Burbank. Brother Dennis will be conducting the funeral service which is set for Friday, December 30th, 2022, 10am, at First Baptist Church in Burbank. We hope you can come and celebrate Mert’s wonderful life. She will be missed. Online condolences may be made at
