Mary Marshall was a woman whose life became a beautiful story- written across 102 years.
Mary Marshall was born on February 6, 1924, to Stanley and Mollie Stevenson in Hennepin, Oklahoma. At the tender age of 5, Mary and her family moved to Davis, Oklahoma where she would grow up and begin the journey of a remarkable life.
Mary later moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where she was blessed with two sons, Lawrence McDonald and Ronald McDonald. Mary went on to marry her loving husband Willie James “Trigger Redd” Marshall, as a result of this union, the couple went on to have three children Michael Marshall, Melvin Marshall, and Kimberly Marshall.
Mary worked as a masseuse in her earlier years. She then went on to begin her career with the Lawton Board of Education where she worked in the classroom as a Teachers Aide for 4 years. Mary had a love for cooking and found joy in preparing delicious meals for others. For 19 years, she turned her passion into something meaningful. She went on to work in the cafeteria at an elementary school, where she lovingly prepared meals for the children. Through her cooking, Mary brought comfort and happiness to countless people.
Mary was outgoing, loved people, and never met a stranger. In her spare time, she enjoyed wandering through the thrift stores or yard sales. Always excited by the thrill of finding a special treasure, a unique piece, or something that spoke to her heart. She had a special gift for seeing the beauty and possibility in things others might pass by.
Mary will always be remembered for her impeccable sense of style, graceful presence, and the way she brought beauty into everything around her. She had a natural eye for fashion and took pride in looking her best, always carrying herself with elegance and confidence. She had a special love for beautiful hats and gloves, and there was something timeless about the way she wore them. Mary had a special way of making everything around her look and feel beautiful, whether it was through the way she dressed, the warmth of her smile, or the care she gave to her garden. Gardening was more than a hobby to her—it was a place where she found peace, joy, and comfort, lovingly tending to each flower and plant as if it reflected her own nurturing heart. She appreciated the beauty in the little things and had a way of leaving a lasting impression wherever she went. Her elegance, kindness, laughter, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will continue to grow and bloom, just like the garden she so lovingly cared for.
Now that the hands that once tended to her garden and searched for hidden treasures have grown still. The love that she planted in the lives of those that had the pleasure of knowing her, will continue to grow and be cherished forever.
