Frances Madge (Willingham) Marmaduke

Frances Madge Willingham Marmaduke, 81, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 25, 2002.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mary Rogers Ellsworth officiating. Private family interment was held in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Marmaduke was born in Hollis, Okla., to Hazel Snider and Elmer Willingham. She attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Colorado.

She married Sam H. Marmaduke on June 3, 1942, in Vine Grove, Ky. She was a member of the Junior League and Delta Gamma alumni. She was a boating enthusiast and cruised the Caribbean in a succession of boats named "Palo Duro."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam H. Marmaduke, on Sept. 7, 1993.

Survivors include two sons, John Marmaduke and wife, Marty, of Amarillo and Steve Marmaduke and wife, Shelly, of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; a brother, Rex Willingham of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Andrea Finney of Pagosa Springs, Meredith Frazier of Dallas, Meg Marmaduke and Owen Marmaduke, both of Denver, and Samuel Marmaduke of Amarillo; and five great-grandchildren, Quinton Finney and Aaron Finney, both of Pagosa Springs, McCall Frazer, Bauer Frazer and Maitlyn Frazer, all of Dallas.

The family will be at 3207 S. Lipscomb.

The family suggests memorials be to the Madge Marmaduke Scholarship Fund in care of Opportunity Plan, P.O. Box 1335, Canyon, TX 79015; or to St. George Village Botanical Gardens, P.O. Box 3011 Kingshill, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands 00851-3011.
