James R. "Jim" Maloy

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for James “Jim” R. Maloy, 81, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at First Missionary Baptist Church, with Superintendent’s Robert Robinson and Derwin Norwood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

James was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Cheyenne, Okla., to Beatrice Maloy Smith and passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He moved to Enid at an early age. He attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1951.

He entered the U.S. Air Force July 10, 1951, and served during the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge on July 9, 1955.

James operated his own salvage yards in Kansas City, Mo. He also was a mechanic and truck driver for years.

He was a member of First Church of God in Christ. He was a very lovable people person. Everyone enjoyed his practical jokes and his sense of humor.

He married Clarene Perry on May 19, 2011, in Oklahoma City.

He is survived by his wife, Clarene of the home, several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Smith of Omaha, Neb., Jerry Smith of Providence, RI, and Donnie Smith of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sisters, Melvia Jean (Neil) Sanders of Las Vegas, Nev., Katherine Santos of Sacramento, Calif., Thelma Smith of Richmond, Calif., and Elweeta Kendrick of Tulsa, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and seven brothers and sisters and children.
