he celebration of life service for Jean Lundy, 83, Enid, is 11 a.m. Saturday,August 26, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church of Enid, with the Rev. Susan Southall officiating.
Jean was born to Inez Gerard and Theodore Edgell in Lincoln, Illinois. Jean died in Enid, surrounded by love ones and went to her heavenly home on August 4, 2017.
She moved to Parsons, Kan., when she was three weeks old and was raised and lived with her mother and maternal grandparents.
She graduated from Parsons High School in 1951, and from Junior College in 1953. She then graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., in 1955, with a BS in Business Administration.
At Pittsburg, she was active in dramas, plays, and drum corps. She worked at Parsons High School and was Secretary to the Dean of the Junior College.
She meet the love of her life and future husband Richard Dean Lundy in junior college and they wedded on July 10, 1955. They had 62 glorious years together.
Starting out, they lived in trailer parks to support Richard in junior college, then Kansas University, until he graduated. Then they moved to west Texas with two small sons in 1958.
They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1959, and had three more sons. They lived in Corpus Christi for 13 years, then continued their move across Texas (Denver City and Gainesville) then moved to Enid in 1981.
After five sons, they decided to quit trying for a girl and fortunately the sons brought home many girls and had numerous granddaughters.
Jean was a homemaker was active in her church, Women of the Church, Newcomers, and taught Sunday and Vacation Bible School wherever she lived.
While in Corpus Christi, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother for handicapped boys. At one time, the entire family was in Boys Scouts and three of the sons received the Eagle Scout award with her encouragement and delight.
She enjoyed traveling, camping and volunteering at the hospital and Methodist Home in Enid. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to raising her children and teaching the value of treating others with respect and dignity.
She is survived by her husband; sons, David and Dorothy Lundy of Brownwood, Texas; Doug Lundy of Enid; Alan and Angela Lundy of Valley View, Texas; and James Lundy of Enid; grandchildren, Jamie Stephen, Chrissy Blumer, Jessica Lundy, Chad Lundy, Michael Lundy, Katie Lundy, Zachary Lundy, and Elizabeth Lundy; and great-grandchildren, Kairael, Cadewryn, Cason, Lynley, Averie, Forrest, Isabella, Elaine, and Alexander, and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her dear mother Inez Edgell, siblings Myrth Guyett, and Ted Edgell, and loving son Steve Lundy, and many beloved family members.
