Ruth (Boardman) Lucht

Ruth (Boardman) Lucht
May 23, 1926 ~ May 4, 2021

Ruth Boardman Lucht died peacefully on May 4, 2021 at the age of 94 with her daughter Janet at her side in her hospital bed in Tulsa.

She was born in Oak Park, Illinois to John and Alma Boardman and lived the first 45 years of her life in Elmhurst, Illinois. While living there, she met her future husband, Melvin Lucht, at a church youth group event. They married in 1947 and lived in Elmhurst until their move to Georgia and then in 1977 they made their final move to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, due to Mel’s transfer to the headquarters of Phillips Petroleum Company. Ruth attended Valparaiso University and graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and she later received her Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia. She was a Special Education Teacher in the Bartlesville public school system for over 10 years and had a special bond with all her students, including after retirement.

Ruth was a woman of strong character and abiding faith. Her faith was a guiding principle and a significant comfort throughout her life. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church from the time she moved to Bartlesville. Her passions at Redeemer included Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), where she served as Past President and sewing quilt squares for Mission Service right up to her death. She was very active in all aspects of the church and served the Lord wherever she was called.

Ruth enjoyed life to the fullest and touched us all with her sense of humor and bold outlook in all she did. She was an avid worldwide traveler with her family and bridge player with her many friends, including “Bartlesville 55+”. She was a wonderful wife and mother as well as a very special Grandma and “GG”. Her life of service and love will continue to inspire those she left behind.

She is survived by her three children, Ruthann (Ron) Lindell, John (Dianne) Lucht, and Janet (Mark) D’Arcy; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Renee, Nathan, Elizabeth, Daniel, John and David; and 8 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Kayla, Josh, Sadie, Noah, Ella, Bennett and Draper. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; her parents; and her brothers, Stanley and Ralph.

The family asks that donations be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3700 Woodland Road, Bartlesville, OK 74006 or to the Oklahoma District- Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), attention to Financial Secretary, P.O. Box 1464, Lawton, OK 73502.

Ruth’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville, on Monday, May 10th, from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Monday from 10-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11th at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor William J. Shupe officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at
