Scottie Louis

Scottie Louis

Scottie Louis was born June 1, 1922 in Tatum, Texas to Fannie and Stoper Louis. He passed away in his home with family and friends at his side on November 1, 2013 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years. Memorial Services with military honors will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Mike Ellis and Pastor Walter Wilson.

He was raised and attended school in Tatum. When WWII broke out he enlisted into the US Army working as a munitions worker. After his honorable discharge he made his way to Lawton. He worked for Gilbert Drug Store as a cook for thirty years; he then moved to Ray's Pharmacy and worked for another 40 years where he perfected his creation of the "Scottie Burger" that made him famous in Lawton. He also worked for the Great American Cookie Company for two years. He finally retired in 2004, but continued to be an active member in the Lawton community. He enjoyed going out and eating catfish at Bob's Catfish in Meridian with his best friend Lyman Howeth and his wife Billie. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he enjoyed cooking for the men's activities. He was a master mason, Harris Chapel, Bass Henderson Lodge number 612 jurisdiction St Joseph Grand Lodge of Texas. Scottie never met a stranger and loved everyone. He would always greet you with, "Hey Man".

He is preceded in death by his wife; both parents, Stoper and Fannie Louis; three brothers, and two sisters.

Scottie is survived by his daughter, Patricia "Gee" Reed, of Lawton; Son, Dennis Mayo and his wife Cathy, of Indiahoma; step-son, Marshall "Bozo" Gee, of Lawton; four grandchildren, Reality Gee, of Lawton, LaRonda Anderson, of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike'l Anderson and his wife Nicole, of Del Rancho, NM and Harold Jackson, of Denton, TX; three great- grandchildren, Austin Jackson and Courtney Jackson, both of Denton, TX, and Amia Anderson, of Del Rancho, NM; nephew, Homer Fuller, of Duarte, CA; two nieces, Anna Plymesser and her husband Chuck, of Lawton and Susan Culp and her husband Albert, of Central High; two special friends, Jake Hernandez, of Lawton and Mike Bailey, of Tipton.
