John Baker Looney

John Baker Looney
November 13, 1942 ~ June 7, 2020

John Baker Looney passed in peace on June 7th, 2020. Baker lived a life most can only dream of. He was a Veteran, artist, archeologist, historian, phone man, husband, son, brother, …. Daddy… Pops. But most of all he was a passionate storyteller.

Baker was born November 13th, 1942 in Wewoka Oklahoma to Robert Guy Looney and Martha Jayne Gott.

His brother Richard left this life way too soon and their reunion will be grand.

Baker was an easy person to love and is survived by his three children Richard Looney and his wife Elizabeth; Robert Looney and his wife Melinda; Belinda Taber and her husband William. And three grandsons Jacob Looney, Brandon Taber, and Blake Looney.

After graduating from Wewoka High School, Baker’s adventurous story took him from serving his country as a medic in the 45th Infantry to searching for gold in the Superstition Mountains. Baker’s story ended with retiring as an electrical engineer with thirty years of service with AT&T. Baker will be missed by all, but he will live forever in the hearts and minds of those that had the pleasure of his company.
